Countdown to Summer: Becoming the Best You

Temperatures are rising and so are our hemlines. That means it’s time to amp up your summer workout routine and combat your bikini woes. We believe that fitness should be fun, so we’re compiling our favorite summer essentials to help you become your best – inside and out. From fun fitness classes to a bumpin’ playlist, find what works for you and you’re guaranteed to step into this summer with confidence.

1. A Kick-Ass Class

The quest for a good fitness class is daunting. Even if you’re not a ‘group class’ person, we think you’ll get a kick out of Flybarre – literally. With exercises focusing on lean muscle building using low weights and high repetition, it feels simple. But trust us, your glutes will beg to differ. The classes are easy to follow along, the instructors are helpful and energetic, and the class dynamic helps you stay on track. Just maybe avoid taking the stairs tomorrow.

Check out their West Hollywood location for times and classes here.

3. Protein-Packed Smoothie

Because no workout is complete without a protein-packed recovery treat! We amp up our smoothies with Designer Whey protein powder to aid muscle recovery and re-energize. Whey protein is absorbed into the bloodstream faster than other proteins, which results in speedier muscle recovery. Try this protein-packed recovery recipe below:

Triple Berry Bliss

1/2 cup almond milk
1 scoop Designer Whey Vanilla Protein Powder
1 cup frozen berries
1/4 cup oats
handful of spinach
1 tbs chia seed

3The Perfect Playlist

The right playlist has the power to make or break your workout – but let’s be real – you can only run to Beyonce so many times before it just becomes uninspiring. Our Summer Shape Up playlist below features tunes that are less likely to be overplayed on the radio.

Romanticise – Chela
Asleep at the Wheel – Band of Skulls
My Body – Young The Giant
Ghost – Mystery Skulls
Panic Switch – Silversun Pickups
Everybody Talks – Neon Trees
Midnight City – M83
Closer – Tegan And Sara
The Walker – Fitz and The Tantrums
Amor Fati – Washed Out
