Calling all vintage devotees! What happens when two authorities of vintage couture collide? A Current Affair is born. Vintage mavens Richard Wainwright (owner of NEW/FOUND) and Joey Grana (owner of Scout) joined forces to produce a truly one-of-a-kind vintage pop-up market, called A Current Affair. The pop-up market presents a unique opportunity to shop a select assortment of vintage apparel, jewelry, and accessories from over 30 premier vintage retailers and private dealers in LA and beyond.
CULT: How did the two of you meet?
Joey: We met doing the vintage shows, and started to work together when Richard began curating vintage jewelry for Scout.
CULT: How was the idea to start A Current Affair born?
Richard: We recognized a void in the marketplace. There are so many girls who want vintage but don’t want to look like they stepped out of a period film. What most of our customers want is fashion-forward vintage and there is no other show that brings it to them.
CULT: What draws you to vintage fashion?
Joey: There’s always something I haven’t seen before. Textiles, prints, shapes…
CULT: If you had to pick your 3 favorite Vintage finds to-date, what would they be?
Richard: I collect Helmut Lang so I’m always happy to find rare pieces made during his tenure!
CULT: What vintage staple piece should every gal and guy have in their wardrobe?
Joey: A vintage piece that you love, that fits well, and that you identify with your personal style.
Tickets are available here until December 6, 2013, or at the door the day of the event. A portion of the door proceeds will benefit The Art of Elysium, a non-profit dedicated to enriching the lives of artists and critically ill children.
