Backstreet’s back, alright! Don’t miss the heartthrob’s performance as they take the stage at the annual Macy’s Passport Presents Glamorama 2013 fashion show at the Orpheum Theatre this Thursday, September 12. The star-studded fundraiser, which also features performances by Cirque de Soleil and The Summer Set, brings together musical performances, the best of fall fashion, and the most glam after-party in town for one exceptional evening to raise awareness and funds for long-standing partner AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA). This is on our must-list of fall fashion parties, but hurry, we hear tickets are selling fast. Get them here.
Alma, a 39-seat restaurant in a not-so-nice part of DTLA, just earned the top spot on Bon Appetit’s Best New Restaurants list. And, rightfully so — chef Ari Taymor is cooking up dishes like seaweed and tofu beignets that beg for seconds. Book reservations asap, and don’t hesitate when the waitress asks if you’d like any additional plates… everything is sourced from his garden in Venice and therefore comes in limited quantities.
Welcome to LA, Warby Parker. The affordable eyewear brand has set up shop at The Standard, Hollywood near the hotel’s lobby. The small space features a specially commissioned mural by local artist Geoff McFetridge, whose previous work includes some stuff for Chocolate Skateboards back in the ’90s. But, there is nothing retro about this optical boutique — far from the traditional eyewear store, this WP outpost boasts curated coffee table books and backgammon table.
Our cabin-in-the-woods style is more practical than posh, but that doesn’t mean we don’t love this editorial from the folks at Live Fast Magazine. Posing in a ripped tee, knitted poncho, and not much else, model Kristen Hoppe and photog Bryan Rodner Carr hit up Lake Arrowhead, CA. for a rugged and dreamy day in the wilderness.
Have you heard? Flywheel has landed in Hollywood. Switch up your fitness routine and join one of their cardio-packed stadium cycling classes. The ride includes performance-tracking technology called the TorqBoard that allows you to optionally race your friends in real time. (Sometimes, a little competition is necessary.) Check out their new Flywheel digs on Santa Monica Blvd. And if cycling isn’t your thing, they offer yoga classes as well. Head over to the schedule and begin your flyest sweat sesh yet.
